Wakes Colne

Speed Indicator devices (SID)

Overview

The parish council has installed two speed indicator devices  (SID). One is located outside the Chappel and Wakes Colne Village hall on the A1124 and the other is located on Station Road between the station entrance and the junction with the A1124.

The SID display is activated when a vehicle comes into range of the devices’ detector. The display will show the vehicles speed and a green smiley face if the vehicle is travelling at 30 mph or less and a red sad face if it travelling at over 30 mph. The device will record the time and speed when the vehicle is first detected and again as it passes the device. The device does not record any vehicle details.

The SID’ also records the speed of vehicles passing the device in the opposite direction. The display won’t be activated and the speed is only recorded the once in this direction.

The recorded data can be downloaded from the device for analysis. Were possible the data is downloaded once a month.

The SID’s are solar powered and during the winter months may not get enough sun to function fully. The display continues to work most of the time but there may be gaps in the recorded data.

If you have any questions please contact the clerk at clerk@wakescolne-pc.gov.uk
